The Lion King & Aladdin Broadway Casts
Perform in Airport
In the video above, the two casts from the Broadway shows THE LION KING and ALADDIN got stuck in LaGuardia Airport with a seven-hour delay.
So what did they do?
Hold a sing-off, of course!
THE LION KING cast members sang “Circle of Life.” The ALADDING cast members, who start with their song around 2:55, responded with “Arabian Nights,” which included a freestyle rap.
If only the cast from LES MISERABLES would have been delayed in San Francisco several Christmases ago!
And, on the topic of spontaneous singing, maybe these folks were just trying out a Broadway version of the Apostle Paul’s command in Ephesians 5:18,19: “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ” — though, without, you know, all the Spirit, Lord, God, Father, and Lord Jesus Christ stuff, unfortunately.
In all seriousness, I often wonder what it would be like if Christians got in the habit of spontaneously singing songs of encouragement to one another anywhere and everywhere, even in public. Instead of meeting someone at the grocery story and offering them an encouraging word or a “I’ll pray for you,” what if you broke out in song and sang to them whatever you were going to say to encourage them — with, perhaps, a couple verses from Psalm 23 thrown in for good measure?
At the very least, it would be, ah, interesting…
(It might even be awesome.)
