I Am Auditioning For “The Voice,” Help?
I too am preparing for an audition with “The Voice” in St Louis. For starters, which session are you booked to sing? If it is the first starting at 7:00AM, you better be prepared to sing first. That may determine your song choice. I am in the 7:00AM session. I will begin vocal warm-ups at 5:00AM, get plenty of rest and drink lots of water.
Without intimately knowing your voice, style and genre, I would be doing you an injustice to recommend a song. What fits you and comes from the heart? You have a very good voice from what I heard on YouTube. You may want to work on vibrato control, it sounds great on your voice, just don’t over use it. Add it tastefully! You want to show your range, but remember, they want to hear your tone, and vocal control throughout your range. Most people pick their favorite song if you ask them to choose. If you are a performer, you know which songs work the audience. If not, ask those you REALLY trust! I will prepare five songs, know them well, practice them from now until July, and choose one about a week before the audition, but be prepared with the others.
Good luck, I wish you all the best!
