My Top 5 Christmas Kindle Reads
1. “The Story of the Other Wise Man” by Henry Van Dyke
I love this book. While the story is fiction, it feels so real and rich. Written in 1896, it truly helps me see past the shiny tinsel of the American Christmas experience to the true reason for the joy of Christmas. It’s a quick read — perhaps even consider reading it aloud to your children. I love what Amazon reviewer Brad4d said, “If you are thinking about reading this story for you or for a child in your life, do it…and if you’ve ever regretted delaying your own Spiritual Journey because you must raise children or work helping others or care for a sick relative, then this book is definitely yours.” I couldn’t agree more.
The best part? It’s free! Check it out here on Amazon Kindle.
2. “Christmas Is Not Your Birthday: Experience the Joy of Living and Giving Like Jesus” by Mike Slaughter
While the title does a good job explaining the premise of the book, I’ll leave you with an excerpt: “Christmas may have brought the unexpected to your life this year. But even in the midst of the unexpected, God shows up. Sickness, death, divorce, unemployment. Life gets messy, but in the midst of your mess, God shows up! No matter what you are struggling to overcome, no matter what life issues have come your way, God promises to show up. Christmas is God’s vivid reminder that amid the uncertainty, God shows up to bring you peace, purpose, joy, hope and wholeness.” (Kindle version, page 21)

4. “25 Days, 26 Ways to Make This Your Best Christmas Ever” by Ace Collins
This is a special book. It reads like a Christmas advent devotional, but each day has a special task to make sure you make the most out of each day. Author Ace Collins calls it “a shortcut to the spirit of the season” and right he is. A bonus is that you’ll read lots of Bible verses to edify you, along with really interesting facts about Christmas carols and history.

5. “The True Saint Nicholas: Why He Matters to Christmas” by William J. Bennett
It’s true: I’ve never been a fan of Santa Claus. I don’t think there was ever a time when I believed in him as a true person. Yet his character is so enmeshed in the Christmas story now he’s here to stay. Christians don’t have to ignore him, and this book will give you a love for the true Saint Nick and in turn will help you explain him to your children. William J. Bennett spins the tale like a master, and you will find yourself enthralled in this surprising page-turner!
