Martin Scorsese’s 28-year passion project, “Silence,” which doubles, in my opinion, as a moving tribute to the persecuted church (especially those who served in Japan), will hit Blu-Ray March 28 with some exciting bonus features. (It is currently available for streaming.)
If you haven’t seen “Silence,” yet, however, I urge you to first read my very in-depth review of “Silence”–probably one of the most in-depth reviews of the film on the Internet.
Before I get into the Blu-Ray bonus features, here’s a quick summary of the film:
Martin Scorsese’s SILENCE tells the story of two Christian missionaries (Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver) who face the ultimate test of faith when they travel to Japan in search of their missing mentor (Liam Neeson) — at a time when Christianity was outlawed and their presence forbidden.
The Blu-Ray/DVD product has an exceptional film-within-a-film bonus content. It features a documentary called “Martin Scorsese’s Journey into Silence,” an in-depth exploration of the director’s quest to make “Silence.” This mini-film is packed with in-depth interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. It also has the film’s stars–Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson and Adam Driver–discussing how they prepared for their roles, as well as their favorite moments on set.
If you loved “Silence,” these bonus features will be a rich buffet of new information and behind-the-scenes glimpses into “Silence.”
