Roy Bray of The Southmen Quartet
Dies In Fatal Accident

Southern Gospel Music morns the death of Roy Bray of “The Southmen Quartet“. A fatal RV crash has claimed the life of Roy Bray, while seriously injuring another.

Indiana’s Boone County officials said the RV was traveling soutbound on I-65, just south of State Road 52, just after 2 AM Sunday. Boone County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Chris Burcham says the RV left the roadway and crashed into a wooden median. The driver, 61-year-old Roy Bray of Trenton, Kentucky was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Jim Hefner, 72, of Albertville, AL was transported to Methodist Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Passengers Johny Washburn, 61 of Gallant, AL and Donald Marr Jr. 39, of Albertville, AL were uninjured.

Roy Bray, pianist was born in Lebanon, Indiana. His parents introduced him to gospel quartet music as a child, his family traveled to hear quartets that are now legendary. Roy has been deeply involved in southern gospel music since 1966 as a pianist, vocalist, church choir director, studio musician and a vocal coach.

Roy has had the honor of performing with some of the gospel music greats and said he feels right at home with a group of such talented, and devoted Christian men as the Southmen!

The men of “The Southmen Quartet” were on their way home from a performance in Shipshewana, IN.
